Lemonade Stand Contest
February 20, 2008The Management and Economics Library will be coordinating a contest for students, faculty and staff to see who’s Lemonade Stand is the most profitable. Below find an overview of the game, and some initial ideas for the contest. Comments and suggestions are welcome, just send an email to kranlib@purdue.edu with Lemonade Stand in the subject line.
Overview:
As the owner of a lemonade stand you have 30 days to run your business and hopefully turn a profit. You have control over your price per cup, the amount of lemons and sugar per pitcher of lemonade and the amount of ice per cup. You will also need to buy your supplies and watch the weather. As you operate each day you will get feedback from your customers on things like your price and your product. Try to maximize customer satisfaction, inventory, and price to complete 30 days in the black. At the end of the month you will get a report on gross profit, expenses and your net revenue.
Contest Ideas:
This is a simple java based web game (play is usually less than 1 hour) and there is no built in leader board, so the staff at MEL have decided to create one! Bring us a print out of you final report with the net profit and we will add you to the Top 10 Leader Board. This list will be kept in the library and updated on the display screen in RAWLS each day during the contest. Length of contest and prizes are still being determined. For comments and suggestions feel free to drop us a line: kranlib@purdue.edu
